If you want to become a volunteer of Accessibility Center for Individuals with disabilities you can participate in various ways. There are three areas of activity for volunteers and you can participate in one or more areas. It is important to know that throughout your participation in the voluntary program, you will receive support from Accessibility Center’s staff. “Ethelodysou” – Volunteer management activities
- Matching volunteers and students according to the needs of students with disabilities and/or special educational needs and the abilities of the volunteers
- Arrange meetings with the volunteers
- Support volunteers during their participation in the voluntary program
- Proposals for volunteers’ training
“In Action” – Awareness and information activities
- Search for volunteers and inform them
- Organization of awareness and information activities about Disability
- Participation in cultural and scientific events of University of Thessaly and other local entities
- Search for local entities for cooperation
“Support Me” – Activities to support students with disabilities and/or special educational needs
Accessibility Center’ s volunteers can support students with disabilities and/or special educational needs in the following actions and areas:
- Welcome students with disabilities and/or special educational needs and getting familiar with the facilities and services offered by the University of Thessaly
- Socialization
- Moving in the buildings and facilities of University of Thessaly
- Use of assistive technology and digtal applications
- Communication with teachers and administrative staff of the University of Thessaly
- Participating in lectures (note-taking, interpretation in Greek Sign Language, explanations during the lesson)
- Adaptation of the educational material in an accessible form (for example braille, magnification, subtitling of videos)
